Read, digest, and then read again and you will have a key strategy that you can use and adapt that will really help you promote your blog.
Here are 16 ways to promote your blog – Put yourself in the shop window
1. Google Search Console – Fetch and Render
First things first, tell Google you have published new content.
- Head over to Webmaster Tools and log in.
- Sign up or if you are already registered then go to your site and select Crawl on your dashboard.
- On the menu that opens select Fetch as Google.
- Add the URL of your content to both desktop and mobile versions and click Fetch and Render then select request Indexing.
- Select link only or index direct links and submit. (Direct links will result in those links in your post also being crawled which is not a bad thing if you are internally linking)
- Click Go and you are done
2. First round of social sharing
Whenever I create an article and publish the first thing I do is to go through my Indexing Strategy. I highly recommend that you either adopt this strategy and change it to the relevant sites that you use or to create one of your own that works for you. The goal of this strategy is to put your articles and content up and onto Google as fast as possible because an article not indexed is an article missing out on a ton of traffic.
Here is my checklist for indexing on Google fast.
- Social share to Facebook. Share to your page, to your profile, and to 2 or 3 relevant groups.
- Tweet you article on Twitter making sure that your message is clear and that you add 3 or so relevant hashtags that have not been overused. A tag used 1000x is a better tag to use than a similar one used 10000x
- Share with Google Plus. Google Plus shares pretty much index instantly and you appear to any Google Plus followers who are logged into Google. The more followers you have the more you appear to those followers on Google search.
- Send your content to LinkedIn, Digg and StumbleUpon
- Pin your portrait image to Pinterest making sure that you have optimized all images with descriptions and hashtags so that your Pinterest SEO is good
3. Add your site to ViralContentBee.com

4. Second round of social sharing
By now you are around 30-40 minutes after publishing your content. You should already be indexed. You can check by just googling the URL of your post. Regardless of if you are or are not you still need to run the second round of social sharing.
- Revisit Facebook and hit 3 or so more communities that are related.
- Share with any other social channels you have like Reddit, Tumblr, and Instagram.
5. Social Bookmarking Sites
You should now share your content on social bookmarking sites like BagThe Web, Scoop. It and Pocket is also a good option. Make sure that your accounts are set to public so that your content is indexed and works for you. For example if you add content to Pocket it remains private unless you share it and then recommend it. Recommending your shares then makes them public for others to see and engage with.. more traffic 😉

Set up your email signature on your email with any social channels you want to list. You can also add a link to your homepage.
11. Update your articles
Keep articles updated. It is a really good idea to revisit older articles and change them around. As time goes by we get better at blogging, creating content and making images to promote with. Use what you have learned and apply it to older articles so they are not only fresh but also just technically better. Change the titles where possible, tweak the SEO and do another round of sharing.
12. Delve deeper into Pinterest
Your images should relate to more than one Pinterest board. Repin your images to related boards now and then keeping your content in members eyes. Always try to repin your initial share so that it’s repin count rises and fingers crossed it should start to be shown more and more maybe even going viral. You will already be picking up Pins from ViralContentBee help these by manually nudging up the count.
13. Maintain your branding
You ideally want to be recognized from one social site to the next to continue your branding where ever you create content. If you are creating images on Pinterest then they need to recognizable as one of your images. Get used to adding your domain name to your images. So that 1 it is harder for something to steal them and more importantly they prompt someone to check out your domain.
14. Social Blogging to promote your blog
Social blogging is a great way to build a few backlinks to your site. If you are Google paranoid you can make a few blogging social pages under different names with a Yandex email or alike (don’t use a Gmail) and get blogging about your blogs. What I tend to do is to simply create cutdowns under my own name so that I build my brand on these blogging socials so that they appear under my domain on Google.
The content that I crate there is not really much more than a share with nofollow links so doesn’t really damage or get me penalized on Google. And of course, there is no reason why you can use your own name and then also social blog as an alias. Great sites to use are Quora, Medium, and Steemit. Or of course, you can join us on Patreon and become a Pac Patron.
15. Guest Blogging
Guest blogging is becoming controversial in that it can be seen as a way to gain backlinks to your own site. Google frowns upon this because those links are not gained organically. My opinion is this.
I see no reason, not to guest blog providing that what you create is kick ass.
What you produce has to be as good if not better than what you add to your own site. If you are super paranoid about Google then again you can assume an alias and use a Yandex.
It is probably a good idea to nofollow some of your links to your site. Just don’t overdo it is the message really. If you create a guest post with 10 links to your site then you are asking for trouble and also why the hell is the webmaster letting you do this?
Less really is more with links except when it comes to your content when more really means more. In other words, create long posts rather than the just getting by with 300 character length posts. Longer posts are seen as more valuable because it has taken so much longer to get the message across. Time and effort have been spent.
If you don’t believe me check page one results on Google and see how many of these ranking posts are short in length. Content ranking on page one tends to be long, 2000+ characters long. Filled with rich content like images and a video or two. The authors have taken the time to produce something worthy of a visitors time, that answers a question or teaches something.
16. Linking out from your blog
Linking out to related article sends a ping comment or a notification to the webmaster you are linking to. This often results in a visit from who you are linking to as they check out how you have mentioned them. And it is not unusual to then receive a comment on your article as a thank you for using them as a valuable resource.
Unfortunately linking out still remains something that authors and webmasters are petrified to do. After all, why would you link to a rival and pass on your link juice and help them outrank you? Well, firstly you don’t link out to direct competitors that you are trying to beat you link to content that is closely related and useful to your visitors. You should be optimized for lower hanging fruit, not the keywords the top sites are optimized and ranking for. You really shouldn’t be up against any huge blogging sites if you are optimizing correctly. Saying that I do love a challenge.
Get over your fears
Get over your fears fast because linking out to quality content is a ranking factor it is something that Google wants you to do. An article that offers visitors links to quality related content id doing Googles job and you are rewarded for this. If you provide no links then your post is nothing more than a dead end for the visitor. You want visitors clicking through your content to related posts and out to quality content closely related to continue the flow of information and to provide the user with the best experience in the quickest time.
Don’t just link to the very top influencing sites. They are at the top of the tree and they won’t have time to pay you a visit or reciprocate in any way. Try if possible to recognize those lower down the ranking tree who are on the way up. These guys are the ones who are working hard to get where they want to be and you can join them and move up cause these guys are going to appreciate you and you are more likely get link backs which will over time become more and more valuable as they become more and more influential as bloggers.
So start by linking to this article here and I will be sure to then complete all of the steps above to help get you seen, minus the Fetch and Render, that I can’t do only you can
