Crowdfunding and Patreon
Many have not heard of Patreon, but I have some great information for you about all of the many awesome creatives that are members there. It is a great way to grow your brand, your business, and your bank book!
Patreon’s Mission Statement: To help every creator achieve a sustainable income. They make this happen by building the best platform for creators to make money, run their creative businesses and connect with the fans who matter most.
The name Patreon
Patronage is a very old idea. Think of great artists such as Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci ( the Mona Lisa). They all had patrons who supported their work. “The Medici family dominated their city’s government of Florence, Italy and created an environment where art could flourish.” They fostered and inspired the birth of the Italian Renaissance of art.
Patreon is for..
Crowdfunding today is all about podcasters, musicians, and writers, even comedy teams, who are sponsored to create their art or businesses. Patreon exists to inspire, teach, and challenge us to do amazing things. It’s the platform that makes it really easy for creative people to get paid. Recently, they just celebrated their 4th BIRTHDAY!

My experience with Patreon
I learned about Patreon through a very well know Canadian marketer Steve Dotto. He had a TV show for many years about marketing. I was very happy to find his videos on Youtube and was introduced to his weekly “Webinar Wednesdays” that he hosts with the Dotto Tech team with Patreon. His videos are free for a limited time and then archived for Patreon members. I am a Patreon member for this business, Dotto Tech. Many perks for subscribing on his Patreon page.
Some Info from Patreon about their new Crowd Funding features. Tools to Run Your Business
Payment Infrastructure – They handle all charges billing, fraud-detection, chargebacks, and every other payment-related thing you can think of.
Reward Management – Easy to set up rewards for different subscriptions and deliver content to
different membership levels.
Super Support – Smart and super nice support team help for all creators and patrons, with a creator
education guide and lifetime in-depth resources.
Patrons aren’t just a paycheck. Creators on Patreon view their patrons as their biggest support – financially yes but also of their work. One calls their fan base, “best friends.”
Everything you do is based on your thoughts. You get ideas – like programming at a very young age from well-meaning parents, and teachers. You should do this or that. Only you know what is right for you. Finding a community to support you is huge.
You know that this idea of doing things all by yourself, learning through the school of hard knocks is not the way to go. It may take you a lot longer than you thought it would before you see any success. The concept of not asking for help, that maybe you felt you were not deserving of someone’s help, is not the right way to look at it. It’s just that we were not taught to ask for help, just plod along doing your best. There is a far better way.
Check out Patreon and see if this is a platform that may be a good fit for your business, or support a business that you care for. Crowd funding may be just the thing you have been looking for.
Never give up, and be confident in what you do. There may be tough times, but the difficulties which you face will make you more determined to achieve your objectives and to win against all the odds.
If you are always doing it all by yourself, always quitting, program after program. Find someone to help you get results that you need. Doing it by yourself is not smart. Join a group of like-minded people.
I was lucky to get encouragement and be inspired by a coach that focused on writing articles. Lesly Federici is the director of a program called the Power Affiliate Club. PAC for short. This is a program for bloggers and affiliate marketers who support and encourage each other to be successful in their businesses. I am the welcome coordinator for PAC. You may join as a free member and upgrade later.
