Finding Inspiration in your business drives you to high levels of accomplishment.
It makes even your toughest tasks feel rewarding.
It keeps you rolling forward when others around you are at a standstill
But where does inspiration come from?
It’s such a vague concept, really.
You can’t see it or touch it, yet it’s one of the keys to being successful.
So, let’s try to bring this invisible thing called inspiration into view.
One way to find inspiration is to hang out with people who live and work through their own inspiration.
They don’t need to be inspired by the same things you are.
Just the fact that they do things through inspiration will motivate you.
I was just watching a YouTube video featuring a high school kid playing the violin like a master.
It was inspirational.
You could just see that he was totally immersed in his art.
Now, I don’t play the violin, but just taking a few moments to see someone being so dedicated to something they do for the sheer love of it, helps keep me motivated and inspired in the things I do.
That’s just one little example of how inspiration can be found in making the right associations, and following others who are inspired.
The closer you stick with them, the more likely it is that you’ll find your own inspiration.
It is quite certain that when you spend time talking and working with people who are totally immersed in what they are doing, you will start finding inspiration in the things that you do.
Did you ever take part in blogging comment threads…
or observe forum chats…
or Facebook group conversations….
where everyone just sort of complains and tells each other that one thing is a scam, another thing will never work, this guy’s terrible, that one is worse, etc.?
This is the gang that sits in the back of the classroom telling jokes and throwing spitballs, with no idea what the teacher is talking about.
Do you want to be part of those conversations?
Of course not.
Yet, many people believe they’re running an online business when they’re actually spending large chunks of time involved in exactly these kinds of exchanges…
Resist getting suckered in to those little bands of inspiration killers.
They’ll never encourage you to do anything, and if you try, they’ll tell you all the reasons you’re making a fool of yourself.
Needless to say, they never get anywhere.
Usually, they don’t even try.
They’ll never encourage you to move forward because they’re too busy discouraging you from doing anything at all.
That’s usually because they’re going nowhere and they resent it if anyone else is.
You know the old saying, “misery loves company.”
Don’t go there if you want to be finding inspiration.
Only hang with folks who work every day through inspiration.
These are the people who trigger you to work to become better.
This will bring you the positive energy you need to fuel your growth
What you really need to do is spend more time connecting with folks who will inspire you to “grow” your business, not second-guess and criticize everything you do.
Work With An Accountability Buddy
This is a great way to keep yourself inspired.
Choose an ideal friend to work with in a symbiotic relationship.
That person must have big goals for their business.
They’ll be working hard every day, and striving to overcome every last obstacle because they are living and working through inspiration, not fear or desperation.
Be accountable to each other.
Make sure both of you are keeping each other inspired to succeed.
It is not really necessary for both of you to have the same goals.
In fact, having dissimilar goals is helps you learn even more from each other since you are each taking different paths to a similar goal.
It will broaden your perspective.
For accountability partnerships to work, you need to be in regular contact with one another.
Be committed to the process.
Have scheduled meetings on the phone, Skype, Facebook or anywhere that works for you both.
Discuss the progress you are both making in achieving set goals. Needless to mention, this move spurs you to take action
When you’re looking for an accountability partner, look for individuals who have been successful in areas where you’ve struggled.
Seek out people who have been in your situation and succeeded in areas you strive to find your own success.
Seeing proof that goals are achievable can keep you both working hard, always finding inspiration to stay on track.
Ideally, you will have success in areas where your partner has struggled.
The goal is for both of you to draw inspiration from each other.
