Mandy Allen, I think you’ll find her to be of great interest and you will learn much about her. I know that I did!
After school Mandy began her career in a bank but found herself to be quite unhappy. Mandy needed more excitement in her life. She found this much needed thrill when she quit her job, went to Paris, and stayed there for three years.
Upon returning to home in North Norfolk, UK Mandy began to explore several passions. She became a carpenter due to a love of working with her hands, earned a degree in Youth and Community Studies, and went into youth work management. She then bought and operated an antiques centre while working part time as a youth worker. Eventually transitioning to volunteer work with both young people and with local animal projects while operating an antiques center and teaching people about blogging.

How did you get into blogging? What made you choose this path?
I love writing and am a prolific writer. I wanted to share my life’s journey with others. As I got more into blogging I found I was really rather good at it, built a strong following and so started to help others to blog more effectively.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started your business?
I now know how very hard it is to make money online, it’s not the ‘easy ride’ a lot of sellers would have you believe. I have discovered that people who make a lot of money at it have been practising their art for a long time before they make it to the big time. This is true even though they will all try to convince you that you can copy them and be making as much as they are in an instant!
What is your most proud blog related achievement? How did it affect you and/or your business?
Running the Blog Carnival for PAC. I had been involved in various challenges in the past and they had all been very successful, but being part of PAC and being able to offer something like this to the other members was a great achievement for me. It gave me more motivation to create more things for others. Recently I have been asked to collaborate on products with other marketers. In the past I may well have said no, not feeling confident enough or ‘up to scratch’, but now I feel like I could conquer the world! Well, the blogging world, anyway!
Please share a blog post that you want to highlight? Why did you choose this one?
I have chosen “Want More Blog Visitors? Run Your Own Challenge!” I chose this one as it outlines the PAC Blog Carnival Challenge and some of the comments are so encouraging for anyone wishing to run their own challenge.
How do you manage time to run your business efficiently?
I have always been very conscious of time management. When I was 30 I put myself through University and needed to work to do that. Time management was very important as I needed to fit in earning enough and doing the coursework too. Since then I have always been able to put my jobs first and relaxation afterwards. One way I encourage myself is to have rewards waiting for me when I have completed a set of tasks. It makes them so much more bearable!
What aspects of your business do you want to learn more about?
I am not at all techy, although I can follow videos and learn that way. My biggest trouble is retaining the information so I can repeat later. Not a good point for me! I would love to know my way around the technical aspects of the internet a bit more.
When you aren’t working, what do you like to do for fun?
I have a range of hobbies. I do a really big amount of volunteering for all sorts of organisations. Volunteering is extremely important and everyone should volunteer for at least one hour each month, regularly and without fail. I currently do a couple of hours on a Wednesday for an animal charity, mostly working with the animals. Additionally, I help out at a local youth group for 2 hours each fortnight. I am currently training to be a home checker for rescue dogs and to give talks for hearing dogs. I guess volunteering is my hobby! I’m also an alpaca trekker, taking visitors for walks with groups of alpacas in North Norfolk. I also drive the bus for a local day care centre for the elderly once a week. Old people are so very lovely to be around. Fascinating stories they tell.
What else do you want us to know about you?
I have never been unemployed in my life. If I find myself without a job I go out and find one! I believe that life is about taking risks and enjoying every opportunity that comes your way. We all have choices to make, and you can choose the safest choice or you can be more adventurous! I also believe that we should always be kind, pass on goodness and help out where we can.
